The Marina at Lago de Almerimar

SITUATION

The Port-Marina is situated in the province of Almería, between "Punta de los Baños" and "Punta de las Entinas", inside the bay of "las Entinas" and five miles West of the "Punta Sabinal" lighthouse. lt's co-ordinates are: 36º 41'48" N - 2º 47'48" W Much of this coast doesn't present navigational difficulties, with the exception of "Punta de los Baños" and "Punta de las Entinas", extra caution must be taken in this area for a distance of at least half a mile.

Almerimar isn't only a Port-Marina. A great variety of sports fields are grouped around the Marina. You can always find uncrowded facilities to play tennis, football, sail sports, golf, swimming, volleyball, fishing, horse riding, diving, etc.

Sailing: This sport can be practised all year round due to the excellent climate. If you aren't an experienced sailor you will find excellent tuition from the instructors at our sailing school, where all necessary equipment will be provided.

Windsurfing: Although this is a fairly new sport in Almerimar, it has proved to be very popular and can also be learnt with expert teachers.

Fishing: Here, the choice of fish is quite unlimited. As can be seen by the size of the local fishing trade. Important quantities of tuna are captured everyday on season.

Golf: Almerimar has an 18 hole golf course designed by the world champion golfer Gary Player. The club has all necessary facilities, such as the hire or safe keeping of clubs, golf buggies, car and shops. A resident professional guarantees a satisfactory introduction to this fine sport.

Ski: Almerimar is only one hour from the snows of Sierra Nevada, one of the best ski resorts in Europe.

Diving: Those fond of diving will find crystalline waters and underwater scenery with a special beauty. All of these make Almerimar and ideal place to join in this sport.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All mooring bays are provided with running water and electricity (220/380 volts)installations.

There are petrol and diesel pumps at the harbour entrance (waiting dock). Service is from 07:00 to 20;00 hours.

The depth of the harbour mouth is 3.5 metres

The radio is on the air and listening all day long on VHF channel 9 and MHz channel 4

The port authority's office can facilitate daily meteorological reports as well as reports on the state of the sea. These are provided by the National Meteorological institute.

Given the mildness of Almeria's climate and the little rainfall in the area, Almeria is an ideal location for the winter stay of all types of crafts, as well as for the crews that live on board all year round. There are also several nautical shops as well as other types of commercial premises along the harbour front.
