Golfing in Almerimar
Almeria is situated on the South eastern corner of Andalusia in Spain and is home to some of the finest golf courses in the country. The green square flag markers on the map below indicate the location of the golf courses in Almeria.
Almerimar Golf Course (5981 metres - Par 72)
Designed by Gary Player, Almerimar has established itself as one of the finest courses in southern Spain. This is an excellent resort course complimented by the friendly and efficient Melia Golf Hotel. Water comes into play on 5 of the holes with the 12th a par three requiring a 100 metre carry on to an island green. Beautifully appointed with palm trees and flowering shrubs, this gently undulating course attracts players back year after year.
Golf Paya Serena - Roquetas de Mar (6301 metres - Par 72)
Considerable improvements have been made to this lovely course over the last two years including a completely refurbished clubhouse and changing facilities. A relatively flat parkland course, dominated by nine lakes which are home to a variety of exotic migratory birds, Playa Serena has re-emerged as a rejuvenated golf venue which is a total pleasure to play.
La Envía Golf - Enix (5810 metres - Par 72)
Spectacular views and dramatic scenery make La Envia a course to remember. Positioned in a valley surrounded by mountains and deserts, the course, although only a few years old, is well developed and in excellent condition. There is a splendid clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant. Only a few water hazards to deal with but the undulating layout and carefully positioned pins make La Envia a fine challenge. Buggies are recommended for this course and the club keep a large number at the ready.
Cortijo Grande (2920 metres - Par 35)
Cortijo Grande golf course is set in a belt of spectacular scenery in the eastern part of Almería province, specifically in a valley at the foot of Sierra Cabrera within the municipality of Turre. Nearby are found localities such as Mojácar, Garrucha and Vera with their magnificent beaches.
Cortijo Grande lies 3 kms from the Mediterranean motorway (A-92) with easy access to Turre from exit 520. Furthermore, it is located 85 kms from Almería Airport.
The 9 hole golf course was opened in 1976. The vegetation is composed of lemon, orange and olive trees that splash the fairways with colour, creating a great contrast with the surrounding countryside.
Marina de la Torre (5700 metres - Par 72)
Positioned opposite the beach in Mojacar this course will surely attract golfers looking for that new challenge in Almeria. Split into two distinct nine-holes on either side of the tower on top of the hill, Marina de la Torre will offer a mixture of parkland and undulating terrain to test all standards of golfers.
Four water lakes add further interesting delights and a brand new clubhouse completes this new attraction to Mojacar. The course is built within an attractive development of luxury homes and apartments and is adjacent surrounded by 3 new four star hotels.
Valle del Este (5500 metres - Par 71)
The Valle del Este 18-hole golf course has been carefully designed to combine holes that represent a real challenge to the player, with other less strenuous holes. It is a curious mixture of the spirit and character of Andalusia and the 18 HOLES of the golf course. And, in the heart of this surprising golf course, the Club House can be found, located in the Valle del Este Hotel building, where you will find everything you require for practising your favourite sport and taking a well-earned rest afterwards..
Restaurant, bar, terrace, pro-shop, club room, changing rooms, trolley hire... and above all, you will always be treated with the warmth and friendliness of Andalusia.
The Indiana Course Desert Springs Golf Club
(6179 metres - Par 72)
The Indiana Course is the first desert golf course in Europe, designed by Peter McEvoy, and is built to the standards of the now famous desert courses of Arizona and California. The contrast between the beautifully prepared and manicured playing areas and the arid yet vividly coloured desert, capture the very essence of desert golf.
The fairways have been kept generous to ensure golfers can enjoy their game whilst being captivated by the awesome landscape and views that embrace the Indiana.
However every hole has features which can be brought into play; the springs, watercourses, dry river beds, rocks and cactus areas and bunkers are strategically located to examine the skills of golf's leading players when playing off the championship tees. Desert Springs is undoubtedly a most spectacular and unique golf course to experience.
